How a Computerized Time Clock
Works
A computerized time
clock replaced traditional time clocks because they are more
efficient and reduce human error. These time clocks rely on
sensors that record time directly to a computer database.
Instead of traditional time cards where the time was stamped
onto the card, the information is stored in a database, which
can be retrieved by the payroll department anytime. This type
of technology saves time, space, and money.
Many years ago, when a time card was filled,
it was stored. Over the years, millions of old time cards have
taken up whole warehouses that companies rent to store their
records. When computerized time clocks were invented, companies
no longer had to store time cards. Magnetic plastic cards are
now used. These time clocks do not stamp a time on them.
Companies are now free to use the storage space of other
reasons or stop paying to rent space that isn’t necessary. Time
clocks are now more efficient and most companies now use a
computerized time clock system.
There are other uses for these time clocks.
In addition to keeping track of employee work hours, time
clocks are used to for tax purposes. Before tax time, companies
have to send to all employees a yearly wages earned statement.
This statement included all taxes that were taken out for the
year. By having a computerized time clock, companies can keep
track of employee tome for the entire year and also keep track
of wages paid and tax withheld. In case of a dispute, payroll
records are easily retrievable.
Computerized time clocks are a great idea
for medium to large companies. Not only will they reduce human
error, but recording keeping and tracking is made simple.
Switching over to a computerized system seems difficult, but it
really isn’t with customer service and help from a computer
software manufacturer.

Time Clock Information :
- Computerized Time Clocks
If you have a business with a number of employees, then you need to keep track of the hours they work for reporting and payroll purposes. A computerized time clock system is a great solution, allowing you to track employee hours and collate all the information together into management reports. These reports can then be used to produce the payroll, or with some time clock systems the data can be fed directly into the payroll computer system.
